Studies of interrelationships of thyroxine, magnesium, and vitamin B12.

چکیده
The increased requirement for vitamin Blz in thyrotoxic animals is well established (l-3). Vitale et al. (4) have demonstrated that magnesium will also partially overcome the growth-inhibiting action of thyroxine administration. Uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation occurs in rats made magnesium-deficient either by dietary deprivation of magnesium (5) or by thyroxine administration (4). In view of these observations, the present study of interrelationships between thyroxine, magnesium, and vitamin Blz was undertaken.

The relationship between serum vitamin D and vitamin B12 levels and diabetic peripheral neuropathy
Abstract Objective: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is one of the most common complications of diabetes. Beside the known factors such as hyperglycemia in the pathogenesis of this complication, other etiologies may play role in the pathogenesis of this complication. The aim of this study was the evaluation of the role of serum vitamin D and vitamin B12 levels in this process. Material a...
متن کاملEffects of Vitamin B12 in Neonates and Young Infants
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is an essential coenzyme for nucleic acid synthesis. Animal protein is the major dietary source of vitamin B12. Deficiency of vitamin B12 leads to megaloblastic anemia, degeneration of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and abnormalities of epithelial tissues. Two factors are necessary for the cure of megaloblastic anemia: one in food (extrinsic factor) and one i...

Objective: This study aimed to observe the therapeutic effect of wet compress of magnesium sulfate combined with vitamin B12 on doxorubicin hydrochloride-induced phlebitis in rabbits. Methods: Doxorubicin hydrochloride (0.2%, each side with 5 ml) was injected within 6 min through bilateral auricular veins to build phlebitic models in 48 rabbits. Forty eight hours later, the 48 rabbits were rand...

متن کاملمقایسه سطح سرمی ویتامین B12 و علائم و نشانههای عصبی در بیماران دیابتی خوب کنترل شده با بیماران دیابتی بد کنترل شده
Some studies have shown the relief of neurosensory signs in diabetic patients by vitamin B12 supplementation. Symptomatic therapy is not a goal in medicine therefore, for detecting causes of this relief, vitamin B12 level was compared in poor and well-controlled diabetic patients in this study. Diabetes mellitus, which is the most common metabolic disease, has systemic effect on ...
